If you’ve found your way to The Loyal Cup, you probably already know Michael, the one behind the bar crafting each cup with care. I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and share how The Loyal Cup began, what my role is behind the scenes, and why this mobile coffee cart feels so at home in the Lowcountry!

I’m Katie, a veterinarian, animal lover, and lifelong coffee enthusiast. My days are spent caring for pets and their people, which has shaped how I view community, trust, and connection. Coffee has always been my constant; it’s my peace before a long day, the pause between responsibilities, and the ritual that brings everything back to center.

Michael and I met in Athens, Georgia while I was a first year veterinary student at the University of Georgia and he had just returned to Athens to pursue his master’s degree. Life was busy and demanding, but we found our rhythm through slow weekend coffee mornings. Those unhurried mornings, spent talking over good coffee, became my favorite memories of Athens and, even though we didn’t know it, that time shaped what The Loyal Cup would one day become!

Within The Loyal Cup, Michael is the craftsman. He focuses on the coffee itself, the technique, the quality, and the consistency. Of course I love making a great cup of coffee, too, but I’m moreso the creative force behind the aesthetics, branding, and overall vision of the cart! I focus on how The Loyal Cup looks, feels, and fits into the spaces it serves.

I’ve helped design and style the coffee cart for several Lowcountry businesses and events, including the Panache clothing boutique, where we curated florals, selected the umbrella, and designed the menu. I also styled the cart for a Lowcountry wedding photoshoot and helped design the cart experience for Pure Barre Bluffton. Every detail is intentional, because I truly feel that the experience surrounding the coffee matters just as much as the coffee itself!

We mention this often, but I really believe that the Lowcountry is the perfect home for The Loyal Cup. From Bluffton and Beaufort to Hilton Head Island, this area is welcoming, vibrant, and full of events that bring people together. From weddings and local markets to fitness events and community gatherings, The Loyal Cup fits seamlessly into the rhythm of the Lowcountry.

As someone whose career is built on relationships and trust, I understand how meaningful community support can be. The Loyal Cup is more than a mobile coffee cart. It’s our experience rooted in care, intention, and connection.
